Professor Sergey Gorbatov defines a personal brand as an individual’s characteristics rendered into a narrative and imagery to establish a competitive edge. In other words, a personal brand is a way to differentiate yourself from the competition and make yourself stand out. How is a personal brand constructed?

When building a personal brand rooted in thought leadership, it’s essential to identify your unique strengths and talents. According to branding expert Marina Byezhanova, LinkedIn is the leading platform to scale visibility, brand awareness, and top of mind. Posting at least two to three times per week is essential, accelerating the algorithm and boosting your page to the top of the feed. Marina also advises writing authentic content with substance that is 200 words or less. In terms of imagery, Marina recommends using still images, as videos do not perform well on LinkedIn.

In this episode of The Cyber Business Podcast, Matthew Connor welcomes Marina Byezhanova, Co-founder of Brand of a Leader, to talk about brand building and its benefits. Marina explains a thought leader’s attributes, how to build a personal brand, the Brand of a Leader’s ideal client, and branding beyond social media platforms.
